In short
Storyloka helps families read and talk about great stories. It doesn't speak for any faith community, and the lessons are a starting point for conversation, not the final word.
A reading companion, not religious authority
Storyloka includes scripture and epics from several traditions. We present each one respectfully and in its own words, but we are not a church, temple, mosque or any religious body, and the family lessons are not official teaching of any faith. For guidance on belief and practice, please turn to your own community and leaders.
Family lessons are simplified
Lessons for ages 5–10 retell stories simply and gently. They leave out detail and complexity on purpose. Where a lesson covers a difficult event, we handle it calmly and age-appropriately. The full source text is always available to grown-ups for the complete picture.
Historical editions
The full texts come from public-domain translations, some over a century old. They reflect the language and views of their time and are not always complete editions; the Ramayana edition, for example, summarises its final book. Each edition's coverage is noted on our sources page and inside the app.
The paintings
Our paintings are artistic illustrations made to help children picture a scene and wonder about it. They are not historical records. We follow strict art rules, including never showing God as a human figure.
The grown-up check
The check before full source texts helps keep young children in age-appropriate lessons. It is a reading aid, not a secure parental control or age verification.
No professional advice
Nothing on Storyloka is educational, psychological or medical advice for your particular child. You know your child best.
